Someday I will do some research and find out why Canada celebrates Thanksgiving before our neighbor to the south. Until then, bon appetit and wear loose fitting clothes, just in case!

It’s Remembrance Day in Canada. This is the day that we honour those soldiers who gave their lives during the World Wars.
It’s customary to observe a minute’s silence on 11/11 at 11:11 to honor the dead.
Maybe someday we won’t need to keep adding more names and numbers to the lists of war dead. Maybe someday.

Happy Halloween/All Saints/ All Hallows / Samhain / Drunken Adult Dress Up Day / Trick or Treat or whatever to you all!
On an unrelated note my kids tried ice skating for the first time last night, so they sort of got to dress up and act silly one day early. But on skates. They even got treats, too!

First of all, it’s Thanksgiving Day in Canada and Columbus Day. Turkey all around!
For some reason we celebrate Thanksgiving Day earlier in Canada. Actually, I think the US holiday should be called Thanksgiving Days or Thanksgiving Week as it is a popular time to travel, visit family, and so on. But I’m still not sure why we celebrate it earlier in Canada than the US. Maybe the Canadian government wanted to do something before the United States for a change. I don’t know. I suppose it’s better than celebrating Christmas in September. Santa’s sleigh would get stuck in the mud, and all of that.
Anyway, to the second part of the title. Like many other bloggers I’m looking for ways to increase readership, lead to possible monetization, the usual selfish motives, and so I’ve been pondering how to do that. You might say that I’ve been working on a blogging strategy, which is slightly dull and anal, but it is worthwhile in the long run. I’ve been working on various ideas that loosely fit together under the theme of a “Broadcasting Brain” or “Brain Broadcast”, phrases that are sufficiently inelegant that no one seems to have put a lock-hold on them.
So I’ve been spending part of this glorious holiday weekend reading, typing, frowning, shrugging, writing in notepads, tearing the pages out, losing the pages, panicking, frantically trying to recreate the old pages, sighing, rubbing my eyes, and continuing onward with new pages while I swear that I’ll never rip them out again. I’ve been pondering lots of ideas and I wanted to somehow reference that in my title.
So off I went to thesaurus.com to find a good synonym for “idea” that began with the letter “H”. It was either “hot story” or “hot poop”. So far, the latter seems more appropriate.
Next time I think I’ll skip the alliteration. But I am curious to see if this is going to send some unusual search engine traffic my way.
