Welcome to a regular feature at The Uncanny Broadcasting Brain Blog called Featured on Fridays. Every Friday I will introduce you to one or more of the blogs and bloggers that fill my newsreader. These are blogs that I genuinely enjoy and read regularly. In this installment I’m featuring a female blogger who probably makes a lot of people say “mama mia…”
Meleah Rebecca Hawthorne publishes several blogs, including her “main” blog Momma Mia, Mea Culpa, her TV-themed blog Melevision TV Junkie, and… OMG, there’s more there than I can count on two hands! Although I think a few of those sites in her sidebar are photo-related… um, anyway. Well, what can I say? Meleah… Meleah is a beautiful lady inside and out, unless she’s got a photo double, but I’m assuming that the smiling woman in the pics is really her. She’s a vibrant and passionate person who obviously loves her friends and family. She writes glowingly about her son (JCH, don’t know his first name), her parents, and other family and friends. She has such a distinctive voice and personality that within two sentences, you know she’s the one writing. There’s no doubt that Meleah has faced many challenges in her past and she continues to do so, but she’s a survivor and a fighter – you can just tell. Aw, quit reading this darn review and go read her blog, will ya?
PS: I was tempted to write one of my signature “21st century haikus” for Meleah, but I figured that Mimzie might read this, so I’m laying off. For now…
If you would like to have your blog reviewed here, please contact me in some way and I’ll be happy to do so. Otherwise, I’ll just keep selecting a random victim until, until, until… I run out!

Welcome to a regular feature at The Uncanny Broadcasting Brain Blog called Featured on Fridays. Every Friday I will introduce you to one or more of the blogs and bloggers that fill my newsreader. These are blogs that I genuinely enjoy and read regularly. In this installment I’m featuring a male blogger full of pithy quips…
Chip’s Quips is the brainchild of Sterling “Chip” Camden. This is one of several blogs authored by the talented Mr. Camden. Chip’s motto (the blog’s, not necessarily Chip’s… oh, you know what I mean) is:
A tiny spark of wit for a highly flammable world.
In other words, expect a explosion of words and ideas around this guy’s blog. He writes about software development, technology, current events… you name it. Chip was an early supporter of The Uncanny Broadcasting Brain Blog and for that, I award to him: a special spontaneous and imperfect haiku.
If you seek knowledge
Fiery, combustible wit
Try Chip’s Quips – smokin’!
If you’d like to be reviewed in Featured on Fridays, don’t hesitate to drop me an E-Mail (see About Me page) or leave me a comment. Note: haikus are optional.

Welcome to a regular feature at The Uncanny Broadcasting Brain Blog called Featured on Fridays. Every Friday I will introduce you to one or more of the blogs and bloggers that fill my newsreader. These are blogs that I genuinely enjoy and read regularly. In this installment I’m featuring a master magician, I mean blogger…
Sounds and Visions (recently retitled) is by a man who calls himself Proffer or Mass Media Prof. He tells us he’s a former journalist and that he’s currently teaching the same. But… I think he’s actually a master jazz musician who’s translated his gift to the computer screen. When I read his entries – which cover popular culture, movies, music, history, current events, you name it – I feel like I’m observing a Coltrane, a Parker, or a Marsalis at work: picking, arranging, and presenting words and images like a master musician moves sound, silence, and emotion. He’s a wonderfully descriptive and thoughtful writer. Stop by Proffer’s Spot and prepare to be immersed in a powerful blogging experience.

Welcome to a regular feature at The Uncanny Broadcasting Brain Blog called Featured on Fridays. Every Friday I will introduce you to one or more of the blogs and bloggers that fill my newsreader. These are blogs that I genuinely enjoy and read regularly. In this installment I’m featuring one unique, creative, and uproariously funny blogger…
Mimzie’s Muzings is a screamingly funny, somewhat adult-oriented blog that’s a favorite of this Uncanny Broadcasting Brain. Mimzie is a Southerner who now runs her own business in the NY/NJ area and writes about pop culture, life, and whatever the heck else she finds interesting. Her writing is clever and humorous and frequently I find myself thinking “OMG – I can’t believe she said that!” Her posts always begin with three humorous and relevant quotes that set the stage for her topic. Mimzie’s Fridays are her “Ask Mimzie” day, where she gives advice that you might not want to follow, but it’ll make you collapse into a quivering heap of Jello that’s laughing its butt off. Which is pretty cool. If you like clever, no holds-barred wit and humor and you’re over the age of eighteen so I don’t get sued for referring you to her, k thanx then you really should check out Mimzie’s blog. Plus she actually reads mine and makes comments, so you gotta support your peeps, right?

Tomorrow is Featured on Friday’s day, when I review another blog out there that I enjoy reading. I’ve already figured out who I’m going to review… so tune in tomorrow!
A parting thought: it just doesn’t feel right to have a Canadian dollar that’s worth more than a US dollar. It interferes with my inherent Canadian inferiority complex. Please, someone, knock the @#$% out of the value of the Canadian dollar!
Thank you.
PS (written later in the evening) – I learned a bit about crop circles tonight. I still haven’t figured out if they are a load of crap or the real deal, but it did make for an interesting Thursday evening.

In this third installment I’m featuring one blogger! This gentleman is a fellow Canadian who has an interesting series of “broadcasts” of his own:
Scott H Young has been writing a blog with the catch phrase “get more from life” for at least a couple of years. He writes about productivity, wellness, and ways to generally improve your life by changing your thinking about some of the challenges in your life. He’s written an E-Book about an approach to change your habits, something we can all profit from. In addition to his own blog, he is a regular contributor to Lifehack.org and he probably does quite a few other things while he is attending university! I believe he is also in Toastmasters. Check his blog out, you’ll find it stimulating.

Welcome to a regular feature at The Uncanny Broadcasting Brain Blog called Featured on Fridays. Every Friday I will introduce you to one or more of the blogs and bloggers that fill my newsreader. These are blogs that I genuinely enjoy and read regularly.
In this second article I’m once again featuring two bloggers! This week’s subjects are both male bloggers (last week I featured two female bloggers):
Site Insights: I first came across this gentleman via Digg a couple of months ago. He’s passionate about a number of things, particularly cars, which he features in a couple of other blogs. He’s funny, friendly, and he loves to strike up conversations with other bloggers. He also participates in a number of online social networks. His catch phrase “I’m just sayin’…” is the sign of a guy who’s just out there to make his opinion known. He also likes to stimulate conversation by taking two words or phrases and asking the reader to choose the one that fits the best. Check out his blog, you’ll enjoy it.
Deathsweeping: Death can be a sad, terrifying, and lonely thing. The Death Sweeper himself is anything but. This gentleman, who works in the death care industry as a funeral director, has probably seen more deaths than most soldiers. Instead of being callous, cruel, or indifferent, this blogger writes with warmth and compassion about his work and the things he does to help his clients with an essential service that comes at the end of a person’s life. Sometimes he sees things in his work that disturb him and he shares some of those with his readers in a tasteful way. Ultimately, what emerges is a picture of a compassionate man who is passionate about ensuring that the deceased and their loved ones get the best possible care during an emotional time.

Welcome to a new feature here at The Uncanny Broadcasting Brain Blog called Featured on Fridays. Every Friday I will introduce you to one or more of the blogs and bloggers that fill my newsreader. These are blogs that I genuinely enjoy and read regularly. And, as a special bonus for this inaugural edition, I’m featuring two bloggers!
Both of these wonderful bloggers are ladies with British roots, so without further ado…
Agnes Mildew of HexMyEx: Ms. Mildew is one of the first bloggers that I “met” through Blog Catalog, which I consider to be a great stroke of luck. Her blog is consistently witty, engaging, and full of great insights. Although we don’t know much about the exact details of her life, she’s given us enough to give us a great sense of who she is although I don’t really believe her last name is Mildew and what a great sense of humor she has. Although there are certainly a few posts on how to “hex one’s ex”, there’s plenty more to read. All of her writing is entertaining and highly recommended.
Fish Without Bicycle by Fish: An Englishwoman in New York, this lady possesses a similar wit and writing talent as Agnes Mildew. Her stories of work and life in the Big Apple are great. She provides wonderful descriptions of the things that she sees and does. Understanding the source and meaning of her title is worth the price of admission (which, admittedly, is free, but still worth enjoying!) I don’t think her real name is Fish, but I’ve been wrong before.
There you have it: go read them now!
