Yes, ladies, I know you have your own shaving challenges, but really, I’m writing to complain about facial shaving for men. It really, really blows.

Electric razors tend not to hurt your face.  They also tend not to give really good shaves.  Rechargeables tend to run out of juice at inconvenient times.  (Note:  I bought my electric razor in 1898, I mean 1998, so I’m sure they’ve improved since then.  I’m just too cheap and stubborn to replace mine at the moment.)  So what are my options?

Safety razors:  although there’s almost no chance of severing an artery with one (I know, where there’s a will, there’s a way, but work with me here), I still manage to cut myself too often for comfort. Straight blade:  yeah, right.  I’d hack a nostril off without even knowing what the heck I did.

Not shaving:  this is a non-starter.  Beside, if I had a pre-nup, it would definitely be in there.

None of these are promising.

I read a science fiction novel where men could use a beard suppressor lotion to prevent facial hair from growing.  Is anyone working on this?  Sign me up when it’s on the market!
